Series of misfortunes on Uzranki test

(29.06.2019) First run of Uzranki stage caused major changes in PZM 76th Rally Poland classification. Alexey Lukyanuk still leads the FIA European Rally Championship event despite losing time due to puncture on SS 11. Punctures dropped two of the ERC 1 Juniors – Marczyk and Mares. Czech driver lost just one place, while Marczyk lost as many as 5 positions.

Sunday part of Rally Poland is shorter than leg one. Three stages, all of them run twice, are scheduled for today - Mikolajki Max (9,34 km), Gmina Mragowo (11,34 km) and mentioned Uzranki test, with total length of 86,44 km. It were Jari Huttunen and Mikka Lukka who won the opening stage. Habaj and Dymurski were third quickest and passed Marczyk and Gospodarczyk for fourth place. Habaj continued his impressive performance on the following stage, which he finished with top result, ex aequo with Huttunen.

Real dramas came on Uzranki test. Hiroki Arai and Ilka Minor did not make it to the finish, after they rolled their Citroen C3 R5. String of bad luck hit ERC 1 Juniors – Marczyk and Mares. Both of them got a puncture. In consequence Mares dropped to fourth overall, behind storming Habaj, while Marczyk lost a chance to fight for his maiden FIA ERC podium, after falling to P10 overall.

Huttunen leads leg two classification, ahead of Habaj and Chris Ingram (Skoda Fabia R5).

Ken Torn is holding steady at the front of the FIA ERC3 Championship field on PZM 76th Rally Poland, though podium contenders Efrén Llarena and Miika Hokkanen both encountered issues. Torn’s only challenger for victory is now Sindre Furuseth (Saintéloc Junior Team), who had been making slight inroads on the Estonian Autosport Junior Team driver during the first two stages of leg two. But a great stage time from Torn on Uzranki helped him claw back 7,2 s over Furuseth, building his lead in ERC3 back up to 11,9 s.
