The deadline of the entrance for the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) expired on May, 31 2011. The record number of 28 competitors officially decided to fight for the final victory in the series. There are four Polish drivers among them, including Michal Solowow, Maciej Oleksowicz, Szymon Ruta and Maciej Rzeznik.

As usual, the strongest field belongs to Italian drivers. As many as fifteen competitors from that country accessed the ERC 2011 including Luca Rossetti (ERC champion 2008 and 2010), Giandomenico Basso (ERC champion 2006 and 2009) and Renato Travaglia (ERC champion 2002 and 2005). They are backed by Stefano Albertini, Luca Betti, Elia Bossalini, Corrado and Luigi Fontana, Piero Longhi, Alessandro Perico, Marco Signor, Giovanni Vergnano, Mnuel Villa, Marco Cavigioli and a very experienced driver, Andrea Dallavilla.

There are two French competitors on the list, namely Mathieu Biasion and Cyril Vosahlo, three Bulgarians: Dimitar Iliev, Petar Gyoshev and Todor Slavov, the Czech driver Antonin Tlustak, Uros Petric and Rok Turk from Slovenia and finally Francesco Parli from Switzerland.

The scoring point system valid in the ERC is similar to one known in other motosport series. Points (25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1) are gained by top ten competitors. Additionally, each day is classified separately. Top five drivers grab points according to the following key: 7, 5, 3, 2, 1.Thus,Luca Rossetti who won Rally Mille Miglia besides scoring 25 points for the victory, grabbed 14 extra points for being the fastest on each leg of the event.

Top eight results (four top scores from two parts of the season) are taken into account in the ERC’s final classification. In order to be classified, one has to take part in at least five rounds. Competitors who did not enter to ERC do not steal points from the series’ registered entrants.
